Mom was truly a wonderful person. She always had time to listen and knew what to say to calm a temper or easy an injury. She spoke her mind freely, but with compassion. She always believed the best of people, and had boundless patience. Today is the day that we mourn our loss, but it is also the day that we celebrate her life and the great memories that she gave us. Already, I am overwhelmed and humbled by the condolences and kind words that people have offered over the last several weeks. I know that my family and many others will continue to miss tremendously mom's presence and that all the memories we have will not fill the empty spot that she leaves behind. There is, however, much comfort in knowing that we are not alone and that we share our memories with so many others.
I try to live my life by her example, and in that way, I hope that her memory will continue to live on.
