Day 10: Eastward Bound

Saturday was other driving day. We said goodbye to Aunt Pat and Uncle Larry then headed east toward Sioux Falls. Plenty of rolling hills, green grass, and skies.

Sophie and David both made some new friends while we were at Crooked Creek, so before we left we got a picture of them. Ashton is from South Dakota and was at the campground for a family reunion and Allie is from Idaho and is traveling for the summer with her great-grandparents.

We did make a stop at a missile silo which was a good follow-up to the visit we made to the launch control site on our way out. When we got to the site there was a chain across the gate, so we weren't sure if the site was open or not. When we walked up to the gate we saw a small sign which announced that visitors are welcome, and the chain is there to keep out the cows...

We also made a quick detour to see the corn palace. It is decorated every year with corn, and is used as a farmer's market. It is still in the process of being decorated for this year.

When we arrived in Sioux Falls, we set up camp and then went to visit family. Margaret's sister Sandy lives in Sioux Falls with her husband Tony. Their daughter, Crystal, and her family live close by as well. Sandy and Tony treated us to some excellent pizza from a place called Papa Murphy's. It is made-to-order, take-and-bake pizza.
